| PSION and USB |
For years computers have had separate connectors for each device, keyboard, modem, mouse, printer, etc. This is now changing thanks to the invention of the USB device...all those connectors are being replaced by the one USB device. You can now get USB keyboards, mice, printers, modems, and even USB speakers and monitors that don't require extra cards. So what does that mean for us as PSION users? Well, it could be that you buy a new computer and it no longer has the standard serial connector you need to connect your PSION up, and instead it has USB connectors, as Richard Ryerson found out with his laptop...a difficult, but not impossible situation for us. Someone has come out with a USB to serial adapter. Richard got his at Business Depot (Staples) that's made by Belkin for $99.95 (current Canadian price). The reason why this one is being mentioned is he's tried it and knows it works with PsiWin 2.3 and up. It should also be noted that there's been rumblings that PSION is coming out with USB versions of its cables and docks in 2001...however no details are available at this time. [ Top of page ] |
