All About PEAT |
Thank you for inquiring about PEAT, The PSION Enthusiasts Association of Toronto. We're a users' group made up of people who use PSION, EPOC, and Symbian devices. A users' group is a group of people with the same interests who get together to learn new things, talk to other users, and solve problems they may be having. Our interest is the PSION and other devices that run the Symbian operating system. We're a wide ranging group, catering to business professionals, home users, casual users, and users just starting out. Some of the topics we've covered in the past have included the Y2K bug and how it effects PSIONs & EPOC, connecting our PSIONs to the web both via landline and via cellphones, software, accessories, PC software and synchronization, emulating other computers like the Sinclair Spectrum, repairs, new machines coming out, and how our machines compare to other machines on the market. Some of the guests we've had in the past have been Tom Kelly of PSION Boston, Norm Zapata of Nokia Canada, and Stefan Smith of Tucows PDA News UK. We also encourage our members to participate. We have general chat sessions to find out what our members have been doing with their PSION/EPOC/Symbian machine, demo new things they've found, and to talk about any problems they may be having. PEAT meets on the second Monday of each month at Metro Hall, 55 John Street (Just south of King Street), Toronto, on the 3rd floor (room number is posted just before each meeting in the PEAT mailing list, on this website's homepage, and it also posted on a TV on the third floor of Metro Hall at the top of the escalator). Membership is $35 a year or $5 a meeting. Regarding this website, its main purpose is to inform about our activities and how to access information about our past activities. You won't find much in the way of graphics (except for a few sections) or special effects here as this site was designed so it would load quickly. Information about particular machines, pictures of PSIONs, files, or FAQs (Frequently Asked Questions) can be found in the Links section as there are many sites that have that info. If you want to join the PEAT mailing list, click on Join Mailing List. The Featured Articles section includes reposts of articles that were originally posted in the PEAT monthly newsletter, as well as articles submitted by our members.
